As a proudly South African brand, it is important to Pure Beginnings that we pay special attention to who we are and where we come from. Our beautiful South Africa encompasses rich landscapes, raw beauty and courageous people. However, we are still faced with significant challenges and continually changing circumstances. This August, we recognise Women’s Day – a South African holiday filled to the brim with deep significance and a history worth honouring.
Women’s Day is our own very special and significant day and it shouldn’t be confused with International Women’s Day, which is celebrated around the world in March each year.
“Freedom cannot be achieved unless the women have been emancipated from all forms of oppression.” Nelson Mandela
Our National Women’s Day is celebrated annually on 9th August. This day draws attention to significant issues South African women still face in our country. It is a day to look back and remember what has been, to honour the courageous woman in our history and reflect on how far we have come.
Women everywhere, we see you, and we thank you! From women in business to women beginning their studies. From fashion icons, to construction workers, from breadwinners to lawyers, professors, nurses, home-makers, from women walking their children to school in the dark to entrepreneurs and everyone in between – may you know your worth this Women’s Day. We recognise your immense value and we celebrate you!
“Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women”
Maya Angelou.
