Do you know what you’re buying?
Pure Beginnings cares deeply about keeping your skin as pure as the day you were born. But, not only do we care about your skin (and health); we care about the earth, sustainability, people, animals, fair practices, and environmental awareness.
Have you taken the time to think about who you’re buying your skincare products from and what goes into their production? Is it big corporation stuff; undervaluing employees and conducting business with blurry ethics? Or is there a heart, a conscience and genuine care that goes into their production?
Skincare with a Conscience:
Beauty without Cruelty
Pure Beginnings products are proudly endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty South Africa. All our products, as well as their ingredients, have not been (and never will be) tested on animals. This is audited by both BWC as well as Ecocert, who do not allow for animal testing of any individual ingredients or final cosmetic product used.
Phytotrade Africa Accredited
Pure Beginnings is committed to fair trade practices and protecting biodiversity. Biodiversity can be defined as the variety of valuable and necessary plant and animal life in a particular habitat. All Pure Beginnings baby and kids’ products are fair trade accredited through Phytotrade Africa. Phytotrade only use ingredients that have been ethically and sustainably sourced from fair trade initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa, and which do not disrupt the biodiversity necessary for a healthy environment.
Behind Phytotrade’s heart is the desire to alleviate poverty and protect biodiversity by developing an industry that is not only economically successful, but also ethical and sustainable. Pure Beginnings sources ingredients from various Phytotrade community projects. These producers come from various Southern African countries such as Botswana, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
No, this doesn’t mean if you’re not vegan you can’t eat the products (which you could, although we wouldn’t recommend it!), but what it does mean, is that Pure Beginnings’ products contain no animal products or by-products. Pure Beginnings are accredited by the Vegan society and use botanical extracts and ingredients to create their products.
Please, look at the shampoo, conditioner, sun cream or moisturiser on your bathroom shelf and think about what went into its creation. Have lives (both human and animal) been preserved, valued and respected in its making? Have plantations been abused or have communities been uplifted? Have workers suffered or has poverty been eradicated?
By reconsidering how you spend your money, you can bring about change. Join us as we do all we possibly can to alleviate poverty, inspire small communities and care for animals- all whilst we continue to bring you your favourite organic skincare products.
