Being a teenager can be tough! Social expectations and microscopic scrutiny on everything from how clever you are, who you hang out with, how you dress, your relationships, your Instagram profile, and of course, your skin, can be tough to deal with. Spotty skin often comes with the territory when you’re a teen and this can cause a great deal of unwanted anxiety and insecurity.
During our teenage years, our hormones are still balancing themselves out and this can lead to a series of skin concerns including oil control, acne, and breakouts. This is a unique time for our skin because it goes through so many changes. Finding the balance in your skin becomes particularly important and starting your teenage skincare regime with a natural skincare range is therefore crucial. As tempting as it is to grab the quick fix, this may not be the best choice for the overall health of your skin. Understanding why a natural, chemical free skincare range is a better choice for you, is key.
A product that works to balance the skin’s natural oil production is far better than one that strips it of its’ of natural oils and healthy microbes (which can create a cycle of excess sebum production). As teenage skin is still young, it’s worth choosing products that work to improve the overall health and natural function of the skin, rather than using harsh, chemical-packed products that can rob the skin of its’ protective barrier.
As a brand, we have always recommended avoiding skincare products that contain harsh surfactants and alcohol, as well as those containing petrochemicals and silicones. The former dry out the skin (not good), and the latter clog the pores (also not good). Not only does our skin need to breathe, but its’ natural pH balance should be maintained to allow it to thrive and be healthy.
Pure Beginnings believes in keeping skin pure – as pure as the day you were born. To us this means avoiding a wide range of synthetics such as:
- Parabens (Methyl, Propyl/Ethyl/Butyl)
- Petrochemicals/mineral oil/propylene glycol/PPG/PEG
- Sulphated Surfactants (SLS/SLES)
- DEA (diethanolamine)/TEA (trethanolamine)
- Phalates (hidden under ‘parfum’ or ‘fragrance’)
- Synthetic colourants & fragrances (often listed in number and letter formats).
Pure Beginnings is passionate about healthy, safe, nutrient-rich, natural ingredients. It’s why we created our Organic Teen range – to provide you with what’s best for your teenage skin.
