Pure Beginnings has always taken skin health very seriously. It is our core value, and building a brand which honours that was, and still is, our top priority. Whilst our complex skincare formulations have been created with precise care, Pure Beginnings is, non-the-less, a brand committed to keeping things FUN!
The characters on our bottles are part of our family. From Finn and Fern the flamingoes, to Ruby the rhino and Toby the toucan, we love them all. But if we’re honest, we’ve always had a few favourites… our firstborns, Ollie the owl and Max and Minky, our monkeys.
The face of our brand is Ollie. He’s the bright blue owl, with the brown-green eyes and orange beak. Perched on his favourite branch, he can be found in many homes and nurseries, both in South Africa and worldwide. He was the character that babies saw in their baths, whilst enjoying their baby massage, when they experienced the woes of teething or first brushed their teeth. We hear from so many moms that their children recognize owls because of Ollie.
Likewise, Max and Minky brought joy to toddlerhood with their fun time bubble bath and vanilla mint toothpaste. They are synonymous with adventure, growing, play and mischief – the toddler years defined!
After more than 10 years of Ollie and his friends living only on paper, they have been brought to life! We are thrilled to introduce the real-life Ollie, Max and Minky in beautiful handcrafted crochet creations.
Handmade in South Africa by crochet team Annelien and Desrae of AfriGurumi, Ollie and his friends are made from 100% cotton yarn. The yarn is hand dyed and balled by women from an economically depressed rural area in South Africa. Each creation is made with love and care, a value we hope to emulate throughout the Pure Beginnings brand.
