Certified organic and free from petroleum, it has been formulated to protect and heal the sensitive bum area, whilst repelling water to protect against dampness. The Baby Bum Cream is also suitable for parents who choose to cloth diaper their babies.

ADVANTAGES OF NATURAL BASED BUM CREAMS
It is important to find a bum cream that protects your baby’s bum, whilst also allowing the skin to breathe. Harsh petrochemicals such as mineral oil, petrolatum and paraffin wax are commonly found in most bum creams. We do not recommend products with these crude oil derivatives, as they can create a barrier on the skin, preventing the skin from releasing toxins. These toxins can become trapped on and beneath the skin’s surface. Natural vegetable oils do not clog the skin’s pores, so products containing a natural vegetable oil base will allow the skin to breathe whilst helping to protect the skin from irritation.
HOW TO AVOID NAPPY RASH
The most common skin ailment one can expect with a new-born is the dreaded nappy rash. Unfortunately, the materials which keep disposable nappies from leaking, also prevent air from circulating, and this, combined with the fact that a baby’s skin barrier is not yet fully formed (the skin structure is still developing, and the layers of epidermis are thinner than in adults), creates the ideal environment for a rash to develop. When it comes to your new-born’s little bottom, the cleaner and drier the skin, the better. Regardless of whether you’re using disposable or cloth nappies, we recommend you use natural (ideally biodegradable) wipes, and a natural bum cream to create a thick barrier on your baby’s bottom. If a rash does develop, treat the affected skin with a bum cream that contains natural plant oils (rather than petroleum bases), which allow the skin to breathe, supports a healthy microbiome and has a pH which matches the natural pH of the skin. Also remember it’s a good idea to give your baby some nappy-free time for a few minutes each day.

As a cloth diapering mommy I’ve tried a number of organic all natural bum creams that are suitable for use along with cloth nappies and that are safe and free of chemicals and other nasties. I was both pleasently surprised and very impressed when I tried the Pure Beginnings Bum Cream for the first time. It did not stick to the surface of the nappy and clog up the fabric hindering absorbsion. With its natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties and non greasy formula it’s proven to be a very effective barrier cream, very soft, smooth, non sticky and super easy to apply. I absolutely adore the smell too. Needless to say no nappy rashes here! I highy recommend this product!
