Meet Sadhna

I am Sadhna, a lover of ice cream and barefoot adventures! My husband, Naveshin and I have been married for 8 years and together we have 3 children; our boys Aran 5, Zrav 3, and recently a little girl Yuva who is just 5 months old. We live in the beautiful sea-side town of Shelly Beach in KZN. By profession, I am a Foundation Phase Teacher and I absolutely love what I do! Before I studied Teaching, I qualified as a Graphic Designer but never pursued a career in the field, however I have no regrets because I later realized my passion lies in nurturing and shaping young minds.

Follow her story  @champagne_and_chaos or Facebook.

Sadhna, tell us more about yourself and your family:

Although having 3 children over the space of 5 years has limited our outdoorsy adventures, we can’t wait to get back into a life of weekend bike rides, hikes and camping.

As a family, we love spending time outdoors and if the weather is good, you can most definitely find us at the beach, possibly with ice cream in our hands!

When I’m not being mom, I look forward to my daily hour of Crossfit and squeezing in a road run whenever possible. My absolute favourite type of runs are along the beach, before daybreak while catching the sun rise.

What are you most passionate about?

This is a tough one because I find myself being passionate about so many things. I hate to admit it sometimes, but I am a perfectionist so when I begin something, or if I am interested in a particular topic, I become passionate about it, in my quest to be the best I can be.

The first thing that comes to mind is that I am passionate about raising my children as holistically as possible. Making sure that in these early years, they are growing healthily, develop good relationships with food and learning as incidentally and through play, as I can make possible.

I am passionate about educating myself on the unnatural nasties we put into and onto our bodies daily, to keep their little bodies as healthy as possible.

But then I could also say, I am passionate about helping new moms navigate the daunting world of breastfeeding, passionate about Photography, Photo Editing AND beating my husband in Scrabble!

As a mom with little kids running around you, what is your best time/rhythm of each day?

This changes as the seasons of my life change. A year ago, my 4:30am wake up was my best time. Crazy right? Leaving home to exercise while the house is unnaturally silent, coming back and stealing some time for a coffee and sunrise meditation set a peaceful tone for the rest of my day.

What a long way I’ve come! I was never a morning person!

Now, with a new baby, it has changed but I look forward to getting back to that when she’s a little older.

What makes you burst with joy?

Hearing my children say they love me, without me saying it first, and ocean swims in the summer.

How long have you been a Pure Beginnings family? Any favorite products?

I first started using Pure Beginnings when my first was born. I was determined that I would not use anything unnatural on his pure newborn skin. 5 years later and it’s still what he uses!

My favourite product has got to be the Baby Massage Oil because it smells divine!

How do you embrace the Pure Beginnings lifestyle at home?

Over the years I have become more mindful about the products we use and what we consume. I am also more aware of the impact we as a family have on the environment so I would say we are on a journey to becoming a more green, chemical free home. We aren’t there completely yet but each day I continue to learn and swap out products, replacing them with more organic ones like Pure Beginnings.

If you weren’t teaching and mommy-ing what would you be doing?

I would be a Yoga Instructor in my Wellness Center, hosting Yoga and Meditation classes and conscious cooking! Or… I would be simply travelling the world!

Name three things you cannot live without:

Ice cream, Great coffee and Music.

What excites you most about this ambassadorship?

I have loved Pure Beginnings since the birth of my first child, and I am forever encouraging new moms to use the same, so being an ambassador for such an amazing Brand makes me feel like a famous celebrity has recognized me being their biggest fan and has invited me over for dinner!

Meet Luke & Jess

Jessica is wife to Jon, and mother to Luke and Holly and she is currently pregnant with their third child. After Luke’s Down Syndrome diagnosis 5 years ago, Jess’ passion has organically morphed into their son’s cause and she is passionate about showing the world the worth of people with Down Syndrome. Residing on the beautiful North Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Jess inspires all those around her to celebrate diversity and inclusion. We are so excited to have the Luke, Jess and their family join our Pure Beginnings ambassador family.

Follow their story on their Website Learning From Luke and @learningfromluke on Instagram, Facebook .

Jess, tell us more about yourself and your family:

We are Jon and Jess Roberts, a family of four (soon to be five as we await the birth of our third child). We live on the beautiful North Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Luke, our firstborn, was diagnosed prenatally with Down Syndrome, and this has quite literally changed the trajectory of our lives for the better. Our daughter Holly arrived 20 months after Luke, and continues to blow us away with her empathy, strength, and wisdom.

We are so excited to be welcoming another little girl to our family at the end of May and we cannot wait to see the relationship between our three children blossom and grow.

What are you most passionate about?

After our son’s Down Syndrome diagnosis 5 years ago, my passion has organically morphed into our son’s cause. As a family, we are passionate about showing the world the worth of people with Down Syndrome. We want to share the beauty of life with our son in it and hope to educate and create awareness and support of Down Syndrome.

What is your best time of day?

Without a doubt it is bath time. We have found that “sweet spot” after the kids’ bath time to focus on quality, one-on-one time with our children – be it reading books, practicing fine motor skills, or simply chatting about the day that has passed. This special family time has become a time to connect, to reflect on the day and to reset.

What makes you burst with joy?

Seeing my children grow and watching how their personalities and their relationships develop. It’s wonderful observing them become their own little people. It also brings me such joy seeing people’s perspective of and attitude to Down Syndrome changing. I also adore an immersive swim in the sea!

How long have you been a Pure Beginnings fan? Any favorite products?

We have used Pure Beginnings since Luke was born. I attended baby massage classes with him, and I am a firm believer that his daily massage sessions have contributed greatly to his strong muscle tone. We used the soothing baby wash and shampoo and the soothing baby massage and bath oil daily.

How do you embrace the Pure Beginnings lifestyle at home?

We are passionate about sustainable living and are consciously trying to leave as small an imprint on the environment as possible, to preserve it for our children and the generations to come.

My husband and his partner own an eco-friendly company which manufactures products made from recycled, recyclable and/or biodegradable materials. This is a company that we are both passionate about.  Pure Beginnings and their ethos fit perfectly into our parenting narrative of being gentle to the earth and all who inhabit it.

Other than the wonderful work you do educating people about Down Syndrome with Learning from Luke and @downsideupsa, what else do you focus on work-wise?

My hubby and I both work full time. After studying a degree in journalism and psychology and then completing my LLB legal degree, I found myself working in the retail space, where I have been for the past 12 years. If I could start all over again, however, I would want to follow in my dad’s footsteps and study veterinary science.

Name three things you cannot live without:

Our support system, coffee, the ocean.

Tell us one thing most people don’t know about you:

I am a total news addict. I had a subscription to the Financial Mail and Sunday Times at varsity and I listen to global news podcasts daily.

What excites you most about this ambassadorship?

Firstly, the fact that Pure Beginnings, a company that we love and trust, are embracing diversity and celebrating differences by choosing us as ambassadors makes me immensely proud.

We are hugely excited to be partnering with a brand that mirrors our own outlook, and we are so excited to try out the new and exciting products as our family grows.

Meet Genevieve

Genevieve pronounced with French flair (but known by most as ‘Gen’) is wifey to Hanno a carpenter, a self confessed foodie, coffee snob and photographer. She is mom to Harland, and is expecting twin fillapino girls through embryo adoption (any day now). Gen is a minimalist, trying to live a life that’s purposeful & defined by slow living. Her beautifully multi-racial family includes Afrikaans, Italian, Tshwane and Filipino roots, a real little united nations, showing that family is truly made from love and we can’t wait to join them along their family’s journey.

Genevieve, tell us more about yourself and your family:

I am Genevieve, pronounced with French charm, and I am wifey for lifey to my husband Hanno. He is a carpenter, and he is my favourite human! I am mom, through the miracle of adoption, to my cute, sassy, and sweet little boy Harland. Through the amazing miracle of embryo adoption, I am expecting not one but two little Filipino girls in March 2021. Our little mixed-race family is not bound by race, gender, or creed – but by love.

What are you most passionate about?

Gosh this is a hard one, because there is so much I am passionate about!  I think my family and friends would describe me as a passionate person because when I take something on, I really try to do it with my whole being. Off the top of my head, I am passionate about family and community, and telling people my story so that I point them to the author of it, Jesus. I am passionate about being creative, about photography, content creation and making things beautiful. Yup, I am passionate about a lot!

What is your best time of day?

Because I’m pregnant my favourite time of day is any time of day I can nap! LOL! In saying that though, I do know I am NOT a morning person. I need a good thirty minutes to wake up and warm up before I can tackle the day. My husband usually makes me a good cappuccino which I enjoy in bed every morning. Only then do I feel awake enough to face the day.

What makes you burst with joy?

First and foremost, I would have to say Jesus. My faith is an overflowing source of joy in my life. My family is a close second. I also love cooking for family and friends. It makes me so happy to watch people around a dinner table talking and laughing, enjoying a good meal and drinking some good vino. My joy also comes from doing anything creative especially photography, painting and writing.

How long have you been a Pure Beginnings fan? Any favourite products?

We started using Pure Beginnings when we were going through fertility treatment. We decided to make the change to natural products and Pure Beginnings was our first choice. We’ve been using Pure Beginnings for a good three years now – and we just love all their products!

How do you embrace the Pure Beginnings lifestyle at home?

We really try to keep everything we use and consume natural and organic where possible. We always eat fresh fruit and veg, steer away from the use of plastics, and use products that are not only good for us but also good for the world around us.

I believe that by making small changes and making conscious decisions every day to live as naturally as we can, we can make a positive impact on our environment. If each of us did something small every day, the world would be a healthier place.

If you weren’t hands-on parenting, or taking beautiful photographs, what would you be doing?

Napping… you know, twin pregnancy! LOL! Kidding. But am I? In a different life I imagine I would have been a chef or food critic.

Name three things you cannot live without:

I hate to admit it, but I’ll be honest – the first thing would be my phone. It’s my link to everything, especially because I’m at home raising babies. Everything is on my phone. My work life, my social life, even my bible readings can be done from my phone. Perhaps I could work on having less screen time though.

The second thing would be my pillow, I have an orthopedic memory foam pillow and I cannot live without it. I am not ashamed to admit that I take it with me whenever I have to sleep away from home. Nothing compares! I think I also just gave away my age!

The third thing would be good food. Life would be so dull without it. Currently ice cream & waffles are top of the list.

Tell us one thing most people don’t know about you:

I am very much an open book, so this is a difficult question. I really enjoy sewing and I would say I am a competent seamstress. I don’t get a lot of time for it nowadays, but it’s something that I do with my Nana. It has a special place in my heart because she is the one who taught me. Sewing with her and spending time with her is my happy place.

What excites you most about this ambassadorship?

Everything! I love Pure Beginnings and always recommend it to new parents and to those wanting to move over to more natural personal care products. I feel like I got a “class captain” badge for something that I was already doing anyway!

Meet Kelly

Kelly is wife to Neill, mother to their daughter Hannah and is currently pregnant with their second child. She authors the blog The Healthy Process where she shares her personal experience and holistic thinking around how health can be created and achieved by anyone. Her family has grown roots in beautiful Cape Town (after living for a few years abroad in Sydney, Australia), and we are thrilled to have her join the Pure Beginnings family.

Tell us more about yourself and your family:

I am married to the most incredible man, we will be married 6 years this year. We met in Cape Town and have moved between 8 provinces and one country till coming back to Cape Town to plant our roots. We have the most beautiful daughter Hannah who is 3 years old and are expecting the newest addition to our family in March 2021, a baby boy. We are perfectly imperfect, love binds us.

What are you most passionate about?

Sharing my healthy process. Most people think health is so one sided (what we eat and how we exercise). Health is multifaceted. Yes it’s what we eat and how we move our bodies but more importantly it’s about our mental health, our relationships, how we talk to ourselves and others, how we care for ourselves, our families and our planet. Health is everything, the greatest gift.

What is your best time of day?

Afternoons around 3-5pm or first things in the morning. In the morning Hannah is so cuddly and looks so cute with her morning hair, she always wakes up happy and so excited for the day, it’s impossible not to absorb her happiness.

I love the afternoons because all the play school and activities for the day are over and we just get to ‘be’ at home. This time usually includes tea and a rusk with either swimming, playing outside, going for a walk or Hannah helping me cook something in the kitchen. It’s the fun time before the dinner and bath-time routine.

What makes you burst with joy?

Just watching my husband and daughter… Watching them play, hearing Hannah laugh deep down from her cute little belly, watching her soak up new information. Currently it makes me burst with joy when I see her excitement about becoming a big sister… she refers to the baby as hers. She will sometimes come and just hug my stomach and ask ‘is the baby smiling’. My heart melts.

How long have you been a Pure Beginnings fan? Any favourite products?

Hannah was born in Australia and we moved back to South Africa when she was about 1 and a half. A few days into arriving back home we were staying with my sister in law who had just had a baby. When it came to bath time she pulled out the Pure beginnings Baby Wash & Shampoo (we call it Owlie) and I had never smelt anything so incredible. When I read more about it I fell in love. I went and bought some Pure Beginnings products the next day and never have, nor will I, try anything else.

How do you embrace the Pure Beginnings lifestyle at home?

We are mindful. We know that the products we use don’t only effect our health but also the environment. We often live with the ‘well what difference could I possibly make’ attitude but we take action on that statement. We recycle, use chemical free cleaning products and use natural products on ourselves – enter Pure Beginnings, making that incredibly easy!

If you weren’t blogging, hands-on parenting or in digital marketing, what would you be doing?

I would probably be working or volunteering at a church and taking up a workshop/course on photography.

Three things you cannot live without:

My faith, my family and friends and good cup of coffee.

Tell us one thing most people don’t know about yourself:

I am actually quite shy. Doing IG stories on my phone each day isn’t as easy as it might seem but love stretching out of my comfort zone and connecting.

What excites you most about this Ambassadorship?

The authenticity behind it. It is the only and first South African organic skin care product I tried when returning home from Australia and have never swayed for good reason. Pure Beginnings feels like home, the people, the product: it is part of my family

Meet Bongi

Bongi is married to Deane and mama to her 2 gorgeous children, Lukhanyo and Esona. She is a Paediatric doctor, lives (and loves) the farm-life in Tulbagh and is wonderfully passionate about baby wearing. Her social media handle @Ndibambe means ‘hold me’ in Xhosa, her home language. We are so excited to welcome her to the Pure Beginnings family, and look forward to journeying with her family as they share their life on the farm, their hands-on parenting, adventuring and conscious-living.

Follow her blog on www.ndibambe.com and @thehill_life on Instagram and Facebook. You will be inspired to live a more intentional life outdoors – this we can promise you!

Tell us more about yourself and your family

We are a family of four living in our dream house on a farm in Tulbagh.  We are so blessed to be living a fairly slow and simple life. I’m a doctor working in Paediatrics and married to my amazing husband, Deane. We have two very warm and loving children, Lukhanyo (4 years old) and Esona (16 months old). We love spending time in nature and traveling.

What are you most passionate about?

My family and my work children (my little patients) are my two biggest passions. I love traveling and I’m always planning our next adventure.  I love babywearing and have a huge collection of carriers, wraps and slings. I’ve spent a lot of time learning all about babwearing and enjoying helping/teaching other caregivers.

What makes you burst with joy?

The way my husband loves and supports me, cuddles & kisses from my children, seeing my patients healing and being lost in nature.

How long have you been a Pure Beginnings fan? Any favourite products?

I’ve been a fan for about two years. My children have eczema and very sensitive skin. The Pure Beginnings bubble bath is the only one which they can use without having a reaction or flare-up of their eczema. My son is a big fan of the handwash with Cedric the Crocodile.

How do you embrace the Pure Beginnings lifestyle at home?

We are a mindful about our impact on the environment and the products that we use. We try to minimize our waste and use products which are natural and non toxic. I’ve recently started making homemade natural products using essential oils and I’m slowly switching and ditching.

Three things you cannot live without:

Good coffee, wine and my cellphone.

What excites you most about this Ambassadorship?

I’m so excited about sharing our lives and hopefully inspiring other people to live consciously. I’m also looking forward to trying out more of the Pure Beginnings range I’ve never tried before.

Meet Ed & Christél

Ed and Christél tied the knot in the winter of 2013. Almost exactly 6 years later; their baby girl Clara (otherwise known as Clara Bear) joined the Beukes clan. Ed spends most of his time working in the wine industry, while Christél, former model pursues a career in the Health and Wellness industry as Health Coach and entrepreneur. They are both certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coaches and created a vlog as platform to share life in all honesty with a focus on holistic health and happiness, The Wholesome Vlog.

Follow them on their vlog on www.wholesomevlog.com or on Facebook. On Instagram you can find Ed here and Christel here. They will inspire you with their slower, more thoughtful approach to life – embracing the many beautiful moments along the way.

Tell us more about yourself and your family

Well there were two… and then there were three. We’re happy to be a family – it is something we dreamed about for many years, but we’re currently in the tough zone with a very cute but very high demanding, teething and sleep depriving four month-old baby. We’re still in the phase where we’re discovering what we’re like as a family. When it comes to me and Christél – it’s like two peas in a pot. Yes, I wanted to marry a ‘boere-meisie’, we regularly laugh at the ‘pod’ joke. We can compare our relationship to a Bougain villa; it’s hardy, has survived some serious drought, but keeps growing into a tree while showing off some colourful and ever-green flowers along the way.

What are you most passionate about?

The taste of warm, freshly baked, fluffy, stringy, airy and buttery croissants. The beach. Essential oils. Tasting wine and drinking wine. Salsa-dancing and spicy food. Travelling. Travelling and Eating. Eating and travelling. Rusks. Roadtrips. Movie soundtracks. Discovering God.

What is your best time of day?

Around 6am. Both of us had some sleep and Clara Bear awakes with the cutest little smiles and red puffy cheeks.

What makes you burst with joy?

Did we say that we like croissants? On a serious note though, we burst with joy when we see restoration in people or reconciliation among parties. It’s the most beautiful thing to see people living in harmony and reaching their full potential.

How long have you been a Pure Beginnings fan? Any favourite products?

The light went on when a colleague asked only for Pure Beginnings products at her first baby shower. I guess it was a natural process to stock up on Pure Beginnings when Christél went into her final trimester. Favourite product so far – Baby Wipes!

Croissants. Nutribullet. Wine.

What excites you most about this Ambassadorship?

Becoming part of a like-minded community as well as extended family while sharing our Pure Beginnings story as we integrate the products into every facet of our lifestyle at home.

Tell us more about yourself and your family
Hi! I am a proudly South African, Pretoria girl-mom of 3 beautiful girls, Eliana, Lia and Ava. I am happily married to my own Mr. Perfect and high school sweetheart, Alec.

Our family is passionate about our faith, living a life that’s kinder to the earth and everyone we share it with, healthy living and supporting local. When we can, we try to travel and see as much of the world as possible but most of time you’ll find us in our loud, joyful, messy home. Soaking up family life.
What are you most passionate about?

My faith will always be the driving force behind all I do but my passions evolve and change over time. At the moment I am most passionate about motherhood. I had a rough start and felt bewildered and alone. I don’t want other woman to feel that same overwhelming feelings I did. Support and some helpful advice made all the difference to me. Now, I hope to return the favour to other mamas.

What is your best time of day?

I’ve always been a night owl so after 8pm probably. I do however love sunset too – on the days we “get it right”. Days when Alec gets home, the girls are playing outside for “just a little bit longer” and Ava is snuggling in our baby carrier. When those rays hit our garden I always feel super grateful. Sometimes sunset turns into “suicide hour” with Alec stuck in traffic, everyone crying and me thinking “where’s the wine”. But even tantrums look better during the “golden hour”.

What makes you burst with joy?

My family. Alec and the girls all have their own special way of making my heart explode at least once a day.

How long have you been a Pure Beginnings customer? Do you have any favourite products?

Almost 8 years. Basically from the moment I found out I was expecting our 1st little girl. I can’t choose a favourite because they are all fantastic but we cannot do without the bum cream and wet wipes.

How do you embrace the Pure Beginnings lifestyle at home?

We share the same values when it comes to living a “clean” life, eliminating as many unnecessary chemicals as possible. Taking care of our skin is also a priority. Pure Beginnings gets it and the organic range has been a perfect fit from day 1.

If you weren’t blogging or hands-on parenting, what would you be doing?

I would be travelling the world!

What excites you most about this Ambassadorship?

I am excited to get to know the brand we have loved for so many years on a personal level and seeing more and more families enjoy the benefit of Pure Beginnings.

Meet Don

Don is a force to be reckoned with in the world of hands-on dads. Having appeared in The Sunday Tribune, The Berea Mail, The Mercury, Get It Magazine and, more recently, Living and Loving Magazine, he is fiercely passionate about parenting, and loving his family well.

Follow Don on his journey through his blog, The Don FatherFacebook and Instagram.

Tell us more about yourself and your family

My family rocks! We are all fun-loving and excited about life. We thrive on quality, family time and taking in the small, everyday things that sometimes go unnoticed. By profession, I am a digital marketing specialist, by hobby, I am a dad blogger over at The Don Father.

What are you most passionate about?

Life. Family. Dreams. So many of us forget what excites us, we forget what sparks that passion deep within, and we push our dreams aside for another, day, month or year.

What is your best time of day?

5am. Crazy right?! I am dead serious here. 5am welcomes you with peace, calmness and fresh morning air. It gives you time to reflect on your own thoughts before taking on a new day.

What makes you burst with joy?

My family and watching little Gia experience life. It is such a privilege to be her dad, and something that I will never, ever take for granted.

How long have you been a Pure Beginnings fan? Any favourite products?

We have been using Pure Beginnings for almost three years. It was our go-to product from day one of Gia’s life. Gia has sensitive skin, which breaks out if we use any other brand, so the gentle Pure Beginnings Fun Time Bubble Bath and Fun Time Kids Wash is perfect for her.

How do you embrace the Pure Beginnings lifestyle at home?

We are proud advocates of living a cleaner, chemical free lifestyle and adopt this throughout our home as well. We check labels and do our best to make sure whatever we put on our skin, in our mouths or even clean our home with, is safe and chemical free. At the end of the day it is our duty, not only to protect ourselves from these harsh substances, but our little ones as well.

If you weren’t blogging or hands-on parenting, what would you be doing?

I’d be singing at sellout shows around the world! There is always singing in our house. Music plays a huge role in our life.

Three things you cannot live without:

My family, pizza and coffee.

What excites you most about this Ambassadorship?

The values we share as a family correspond with the values that Pure Beginnings promote. We love Pure Beginnings, so to be official ambassadors for the brand makes us very, very excited.
